Yuma Fire Department Firefighters Deploy to Another California Wildfire

Yuma, Arizona - On Sunday, August 29, 2021 the Yuma Fire Department received a mutual aid request from California authorities regarding a Task Force deployment to the “Caldor Fire” burning in the Eldorado Forest of northern California near the Nevada border. At 3:00 am this morning (Monday) an Engine and 4 YFD personnel left Yuma to meet in Westmoreland, California with the other members of the Imperial Valley Task Force.

City of Yuma to provide sandbag filling station

Yuma, Arizona - Yuma may experience heavy rainfall this week due to Hurricane Nora. City of Yuma Public Works will provide a sandbag filling station at the Yuma Civic Center parking lot (1440 W Desert Hills Dr) Sunday afternoon through at least Weds., September 1.

Groundbreaking ceremony to be held for new San Luis Science Lab

San Luis, Arizona - Construction is now underway on a Science Lab at the Arizona Western College San Luis Learning Center thanks to funding from the Title III STEM Instinct2 Federal Grant Program. The new lab will provide students with the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Informatics completely from the AWC San Luis Learning Center. Currently, students must travel to the Yuma Campus to fulfill science lab requirements.

The Yuma Police Department Seeks Accreditation

Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma Police Department is seeking accreditation through the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) and the associated Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ALEAP).
