ABCs of drowning prevention

Yuma, Arizona - August is Drowning Impact Awareness Month: Children 4 years old and younger are at greatest risk for drowning. There are a few basic steps to reduce this risk, we call them the ABCs of drowning prevention.

Alternative Fuel Vehicle Training

Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) has been conducting Alternative Fuel Vehicle Safety Training at the Public Safety Training Facility (PSTF) on Avenue 4E. With the popularity of alternative fuel vehicles, the likelihood of firefighters encountering these vehicles in various emergency situations increases. The training was provided to 106 YFD personnel, rotated through the facility in two hour segments over the course of three days, August 14th through 16th.

Heritage Library Writer’s Roundtable

Yuma, Arizona - On Saturday, September 2nd, the Writer’s Roundtable will meet at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Library. Writers of any genre or writing level are invited to write and share their work. A different writing prompt is provided each month.

Inglés Básico - Basic English

Yuma, Arizona - “Inglés Básico” (Basic English) for adults is offered Tuesdays and Fridays at 3:00 p.m. at the Heritage Library. These sessions, led by instructor Marinacia Linares, are an opportunity for English learners to work together and practice basic vocabulary.
