New Orleans, Louisiana - A Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based physician’s assistant was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday for his role in a scheme to unlawfully distribute prescriptions for thousands of oxycodone pills.

Following adjournment of the session, in total the governor signed 320 bills into law - the lowest number of bills passed by the legislature and signed into law since 2015.
