Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma City Council will consider a request to change the land use designation from low density residential to medium density residential, for property located at the northwest corner of 11th Street and Avenue A during the regular City Council meeting to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, inside the Council Chambers of City Hall, One City Plaza.
This item originally came before the City Council on Feb. 3, 2016, was continued to a later meeting, then referred back to the Planning & Zoning Commission at the applicant's request to consider an alternative, less intense land use.
The applicant has revised their original request, which was for a change to high density residential land use designation. The applicant is now seeking to change the land use to medium density residential.
At the start of the regular City Council meeting, there will be a check presentation allocating monies from the Cocopah Indian Tribe's gaming revenue funds to two agencies. Additionally, a quarterly recognition for boards and commissions will be held.
There are several items on the Motion Consent Agenda, including:
- Two liquor license requests.
- An intergovernmental cooperative purchase agreement with Public Procurement Authority.
- A request for proposal regarding biosolids removal and disposal.
- Renewal of the City's insurance coverage for Fiscal Year 2016-2017.
- Authorizing the City Administrator to execute an agreement with the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area Corporation (YCNHAC) for the operation and maintenance of the Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park.
- Authorizing the application for and acceptance of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant Program.
Council will consider several items on the Resolution Consent Agenda, which will be considered and enacted with one motion. They include:
- A resolution of support for the mission of the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma and Yuma Proving Ground through the efforts of Yuma 50, Inc., a non-profit organization.
- Adopting a City of Yuma Workers' Compensation Trust Agreement as the Trust Document.
- Adopting a resolution authorizing the City Administrator to execute two deferral agreements to defer City of Yuma development fees and water and sewer capacity charges for Park West Unit No. 2 subdivision and Train Estates Unit No. 5 Subdivision, and to collect a $500 administrative fee for each deferral agreement.
- Ratifying the City Administrator's submission of the City of Yuma's policy ideas to the League of Arizona Cities and Towns for consideration as part of the League's 2017 legislative platform.
There are two ordinances scheduled for adoption:
- A zoning code text amendment regarding off-site signs.
- A government property land and improvements lease.
There are no ordinances scheduled for introduction at this time.
