Edinburg, Texas - During the month of August, over 100 illegal aliens were rescued by state and local law enforcement agencies participating in Operation Stonegarden throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Officers and deputies found the subjects in deplorable conditions inside stash houses and placed in perilous circumstances within the air dams of tractor-trailers as they attempted to be smuggled further into the United States.

Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.

The U.S. Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector continues to coordinate border security efforts with state and local law enforcement agencies through Operation Stonegarden to secure the border and keep communities safe. Operation Stonegarden facilitates funding to state and local law enforcement agencies in support of border security.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector currently has multiple campaigns focused on rescues and danger awareness, such as “Operation Big Rig” and “No Se Arriesgue” to combat smuggling and ultimately save lives. Call 911 to report suspicious activity; “They’re humans, not cargo!”
