Yuma, Arizona - Wellton Station Border Patrol agents arrested a 31-year-old Mexican male national Tuesday morning after finding nearly 75 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8, east of Yuma.
Agents referred the driver for a secondary inspection of his Chevy Tahoe after a canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect. Agents conducting the inspection found 70 packages of meth, worth more than $220,000 hidden under the vehicle’s quarter panels, doors, and rear compartment.
In addition to arresting the man for narcotics smuggling, agents seized the vehicle and drugs.
