AWC Scholastic Book Fair

Yuma, Arizona - The Dr. Kathryn A. Watson Child Development Learning Lab (CDLL) at Arizona Western College will be hosting their annual Scholastic Book Fair from Monday, October 9 to Friday, October 13.  All book sales benefit the CDLL.  They will earn Scholastic Dollars from the sale that can be put towards items for the center.

On Friday, September 29th, the Heritage Library, in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate and the City of Yuma, will host a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. to honor the life of Jose Maria Morelos, a Roman Catholic priest and revolutionary leader in 19th century Mexico.

On Wednesday, September 27th, at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday, September 30th, at 1:00 p.m., readers are invited to play Banned Books Bingo. Grab a bingo card and try to figure out why some of the great books in literature have been banned. All ages welcome; children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Yuma, Arizona - On Wednesday, September 27th, Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan will visit the Yuma Main Library at 11:00 a.m. to present a $ 26,750 ceremonial check granted by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Arizona Secretary of State, under the Library Services and Technology Act, which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
