New Navy Warship To Receive Name “USS Arizona”

Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey Monday released the following statement after the announcement from Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly that a new warship will be given the name “USS Arizona.” No Navy ship has carried that name since the USS Arizona was sunk at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

San Luis, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey Monday applauded the passage of $152.4 million in new federal funding to modernize the San Luis I Port of Entry in Southern Arizona. Designated as the number one priority port of entry in the United States by Customs and Border Protection, the San Luis I port is one of the busiest ports at the U.S.-Mexico border and the only port to receive this funding.

Yuma, Arizona - The City of Yuma Police Department is conducting an impaired driving detail on Tuesday, December 31st, 2019 and Wednesday, January 1st, 2020.  Additional officers will be roving city streets looking to stop and arrest drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs. These DUI patrols are, in addition to regularly scheduled patrol officers, all looking for signs of an impaired driver behind the wheel.

Memphis, Tennessee - A former loan officer at Trustmark Bank has been sentenced to serve 18 months in federal prison in connection with a fraudulent loan scheme. U.S. Attorney D. Michael Dunavant for the Western District of Tennessee announced the sentence Monday.

Kaibeto Man Sentenced to Three Years in Federal Prison for Domestic Assault

Phoenix, Arizona - Last week, Dustin Tso, of Kaibeto, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dominic W. Lanza to three years of imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release.  The three years of imprisonment imposed will be served in addition to six months of imprisonment previously served in tribal custody.
