Last year in December, Chrome 55 introduced the “Secure” label to indicate a valid HTTPS connection, joining the padlock icon which has been used by browsers for decades.

Yuma, Arizona - As July comes to a close, we would like you to know that August has been proclaimed “Drowning Impact Awareness Month” in the City of Yuma by Mayor Douglas J. Nicholls. This proclamation was also being made for the State of Arizona by Gov. Douglas A. Ducey.  The purpose is to raise awareness of the number of cases and the impact of child drowning in Arizona. Even though Arizona is considered a desert state, on average, drowning incidents take the lives of many of our state’s children. Children 4 years old and younger are in the highest risk group.

Yuma, Arizona - On Friday, July 28th, 2017, around 5:40 pm, the Yuma Fire Department was alerted to a fire at the San Carlos Hotel, 106 E. 1st Street. Arriving firefighters found that a cardboard box was left on top of a stove inside one of the apartments, and accidentally ignited by the stove. A fire sprinkler head in the kitchen of the apartment automatically activated from the radiant heat, and extinguished the fire. Firefighters ensured the fire was completely out, and assisted with cleanup. There were no injuries, and fire damage was limited to the cardboard box on top of the stove and cabinet above.
