Yuma, Arizona - With our cooling temperatures, Yumans may be thinking about more outdoor recreational activity, such as camping. Warm days, but often cold nights will mean camp fires. With low humidity, and occasional periods of gusty winds, fires can spread quickly and be more difficult to stop. Preventing fires is much easier and safer than putting them out. Here are a few things we would like you to keep in mind:
Tdap vaccination during pregnancy can prevent whooping cough in babies

Washington, DC - A new CDC study published today in Clinical Infectious Diseases reported that vaccination with whooping cough vaccine, Tdap, during the third trimester of pregnancy prevented more than three out of four (78 percent) cases of whooping cough (also known as pertussis) in babies younger than two months. However, only 49 percent of pregnant women who delivered between fall 2015 and spring 2016 received the vaccine. CDC recommends women get Tdap during each pregnancy to provide critical short-term protection to babies when they are most at risk for this life-threatening illness.

Phoenix, Arizona - Opening Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Arizona Science Center, POMPEII: The Exhibition examines life in Pompeii both before and after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius on August 24, 79 A.D. This promises to be one of the most significant and immersive international exhibitions to fill the Science Center’s Sybil B. Harrington Galleries. The exhibition will run from November 18, 2017 through May 28, 2018.
