Yuma, Arizona - In January 2018, veteran rock-hounder Jack Vandelaar will present “Rock Hounding in Yuma County” at Yuma County Libraries. Learn where to look for rocks and gems, tips on how to identify them, and how to stay safe while rock hounding in the desert. Aerial views of rock hounding sites taken by a drone will also be shown. There is no charge to attend.

Yuma, Arizona - Every New Year’s Eve the Yuma Police Department responds to numerous reports of “shots fired” within the city limits. Some people discharge a firearm into the air to bring in the New Year.  The Yuma Police Department would like to remind the community this is a felony offense and encourage anyone that witnesses this type of criminal activity to call the police department immediately.

Yuma, Arizona - The City of Yuma Police Department is conducting an impaired driving detail on Friday, December 29th; Saturday, December 30th; Sunday, December 31st, 2017 and Monday, January 1st, 2018.  Additional officers will be roving city streets looking to stop and arrest drivers who are impaired by alcohol or drugs. These DUI patrols are, in addition to regularly scheduled patrol officers, all looking for signs of an impaired driver behind the wheel.

Sedona, Arizona - On January 20 and 21, 2018, Healthy World Sedona will present Sedona VegFest 2018 at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road. The event will feature speakers, cooking demonstrations, an art show and exhibitors, all of which will focus on promoting the health, ethical and environmental benefits of a whole-food, plant-based (WFPB) diet and lifestyle. Yuma, Arizona - On Saturday, January 13th, the Foothills Library, in collaboration with the Guide Dog Puppy Raisers of Yuma, presents “Service Animals: How to Interact, Identify, and Accommodate” at 2:00 p.m. Guide Dog Puppy Raisers of Yuma is a group of dedicated individuals and families who are committed to the proper raising, training, and socializing of future guide dogs. In this information session, they will discuss their mission, describe what service animals do, how the dogs are trained, and how to accommodate service dogs in public settings.
