Yuma, Arizona - On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., the Yuma County Victim’s Rights Committee will hold a vigil as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The vigil will take place outdoors at the Centennial Heritage Area at the Yuma County Main Library, 2951 South 21st Drive, Yuma, Arizona. This is located on the North side of the library. There will be speakers, music, refreshments, informational booths and a balloon launch.

Please join us as we gather to mourn those who have died as a result of domestic violence, celebrate those who have survived, and connect with those who work to end the violence once and for all.   This event will provide us the opportunity to recognize the need for all in our community to step up and support not only victims of domestic violence but those who support and advocate for such victims as well.

None of us are immune from the violence and it affects victims of all ages.  In Arizona alone, it is estimated that at least one (1) child will witness a domestic violence incident every 44 minutes and in 2015, Arizona experienced 107 domestic violence related fatalities.  Nationwide, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will have experienced domestic violence in their lifetime.

Please join us as we “Stand up and Speak Out Against Domestic Violence.”
