Yuma Extended Radar Outage Scheduled

Yuma, Arizona - Beginning Friday, December 10, 2021, the Yuma, AZ WSR-88D (KYUX) radar operated by the NOAA National Weather Service in Phoenix, AZ will be down for approximately seven days for the replacement of the generator, fuel tanks, and accompanying components. This activity is important to support the radar’s operation during periods of commercial power outages, specifically when hazardous weather is present.

Candle with Care - Safety is No Accident

Yuma, Arizona - The time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day is traditionally a time of great expectation for family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy the season and maybe relax before the start of a new year. It is also a time for increased calls for service in the fire service. Remember to “Candle with Care” and keep fire safety in mind when doing your holiday decorating. AWC Civic Orchestra presents Spirit of Christmas

Yuma, Arizona - – The Arizona Western College Civic Orchestra will be presenting “The Spirit of Christmas” on Saturday, December 18.

Home Fire 7200 block of east 25th Place

Yuma, Arizona - On Wednesday December 1, 2021, at about 5:08 am, a fire was reported in the 7200 block of east 25th Place. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found heavy smoke and fire coming from 7215 East 25th Place and two vehicles in the driveway. Shortly after arrival, flames began to vent through the roof of the home. Firefighters brought the fire under control, and extinguished it in approximately 20 minutes. 25th Place between Avenue 7E and College Avenue was closed to traffic while YFD personnel remained on the scene.
