Yuma, Arizona - Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector seized 66 pounds of marijuana and arrested a member of the MS-13 gang during separate incidents Saturday.
Wellton Station agents patrolling near Gila Bend early in the morning discovered two individuals walking in the desert and carrying large backpacks. Agents apprehended the pair and discovered the backpacks were filled with approximately $33,000 worth of marijuana. The marijuana was seized for destruction. The suspects, both Mexican nationals, were processed for removal.
Saturday evening, Yuma Station agents patrolling near Andrade, California, observed the illegal entry of four subjects. Agents responded to the area on ATVs and apprehended the group. During processing, agents learned one of the subjects was a Honduran national and a member of the MS-13 gang. The suspected gang member was last deported in April of this year and is being held for prosecution.
The Yuma Sector has made significant progress in securing Arizona’s southwest border. The probability of smugglers being arrested and facing legal consequences is higher than ever.
