Yuma, Arizona - Talent Search will be hosting First Steps to College for 7th graders on Tuesday, October 18th from 9am to 1pm on the Yuma Campus at Arizona Western College in South Schoening and the East Meeting Room.
First Steps to College is a Talent Search activity for 7th graders to come to the AWC Yuma Campus for the day. Students that will be participating are from 4th Ave Jr High, Gila Vista Jr High, Wellton Elementary, and LePera Elementary and Wallace Jr High in Parker, AZ.
The day consists of a campus tour and students will have the opportunity to participate in a Jeopardy style game with answers about careers and college. There will also be a student panel, made up of former Talent Search and CAMP students that will answer questions about college.
Talent Search is a federally funded grant designed to help students graduate from high school and continue on to college. Eligible students are potential first-generation college students, and/or low income. Students are eligible to participate in the program from 6th through 12th grade.
