Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey announced the 2016 Arizona Tax Recovery Program, which provides Arizona taxpayers the ability to pay any back taxes owed to the state without penalty, interest or criminal prosecution. The program will run from September 1, 2016 through October 31, 2016.

Bisbee, Arizona - Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a jury convicted Edith and James Hughes of multiple felony counts involving financial exploitation of an 86 year old woman. They were both found guilty of Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, Theft from a Vulnerable Adult, Misuse of a Credit Card, and Unlawful Use of Power of Attorney.

Sierra Vista, Arizona - Streamflow and groundwater levels are declining in some locations along the San Pedro River near Sierra Vista, Arizona, according to a new report by the U.S. Geological Survey.

Tucson, Arizona - On Aug. 15, 2016, Monique Pablo-Johnson, 47, of Sells, Ariz., a member of Tohono O’odham Indian Nation, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Rosemary Marquez to 11 years in custody.   Pablo-Johnson had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter.

Phoenix, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a former Phoenix Rescue Mission employee will go to prison for 3.5 years for stealing social security benefits from the homeless.  A judge sentenced Sergio Solorzano after he pled guilty to an Attempted Fraud Scheme, Theft, and Taking the Identity of Another.  The Court also ordered Solorzano to pay all three victims $61,286.47 in restitution.
